Report: Number Of VC Funds Raising Money At 16-Year Low (There?s A But)

According to Thomson Reuters and the National Venture Capital Association, United States-based venture capital funds have raised $2.7 billion in the second quarter of 2011, a 28 percent increase by dollar commitments compared to Q2 2010. However, the number of VC firms raising money has declined significantly (from 48 tot 37 funds, or a 23 percent drop, compared to the second quarter of 2010).
